Washington, D.C. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Anthony C. Epstein (Ret.) has joined its panel. Judge Epstein joins JAMS with over four decades of legal experience, including serving for over 16 years on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
From 2008 to 2025, Judge Epstein served as an associate judge on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, following 25 years in private practice handling complex, high-stakes matters. During his tenure on the bench, he presided over thousands of cases and conducted several hundred jury and bench trials, including complex commercial disputes involving employment, construction and real estate.
Based in the Washington, D.C., Resolution Center, Judge Epstein will serve as an arbitrator, mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator, handling business and commercial, construction, employment, family law, insurance, personal injury and professional malpractice matters. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.
“Judge Epstein has long been respected for his thoughtful legal insight and steady, principled approach. His ability to understand the unique dynamics of each case will serve him well as a neutral at JAMS, where he will help parties in resolving even the most challenging matters.”
Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president
Judge Epstein has successfully conducted dozens of mediations using a strategic approach. An attentive listener, he fosters rapport with parties and counsel, helping them set realistic expectations and focus on practical outcomes. Early in his career, he also served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Charles B. Renfrew and as a trial attorney and special assistant for the Department of Justice.
“My commitment is to bring the same experience, dedication and balance to my ADR practice at JAMS that I used to resolve challenging cases in a busy urban trial court,” said Judge Epstein. “I look forward to working closely with parties and their counsel to navigate disputes thoughtfully and efficiently.”
Judge Epstein earned his B.A. from Yale College and his J.D. from Yale Law School.
